SPTO subsidies

On 13 November, the final resolutions were published on Aid to Promote Patent and Utility Model applications for the national and international programmes for 2014.

This aid was created in 2006 to promote patent applications abroad, and in 2010 for patent and utility model applications in Spain.

In the Spanish national programme, the budget has been adapted to the applications submitted, while the international budget has now become consolidated after constant growth since the start.

Constant evolution

The SPTO is aware of the importance of internationalisation for Spanish companies so makes every effort to meet the demand for this type of aid. The graph below shows trends, based on applications and the budget available for the two programmes.

In 2014 fewer months were covered than in previous years so there is a reduction in absolute terms although, in relative terms, the figures rose.
