Agreement for collaboration between SPTO and ANDEMA

On 6 May 2014, the Director General of the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, Patricia García-Escudero, and the Director General of the Asociación Nacional para la Defensa de la Marca (National Association for the Defence of Trademarks) (ANDEMA), José Antonio Moreno, signed an Agreement for collaboration to facilitate and promote knowledge on Industrial Property.

This Agreement forms part of the measures covered by the SPTO’s 2012-2014 Strategy regarding Industrial Property for companies and entrepreneurs and has the following aims:

  • To disseminate the value of brands and of Industrial Property in general for companies, as a tool for competitiveness.
  • To emphasise the importance for companies of combining innovation with Industrial Property, to help them take the right decisions leading to international competitiveness.
  • To stress the importance of public and private collaboration for promoting business innovation.
  • Surveillance and promotion of respect for Industrial Property rights. Awareness campaigns to fight counterfeiting.

ANDEMA is a nationwide non-profit business association that aims, amongst other objectives, to promote and defend the legitimate interests of holders of Industrial and Intellectual Property rights, and to fight against any type of fraud involving the violation of such rights. It also studies, analyses and makes known such rights.
