Course on Administrative Management of Industrial Property (for Paralegals)

IIn today’s economic environment in which knowledge has become a growth driver, Industrial Property rights are essential for creating value. In fact, a large proportion of a company’s market value is determined by its intangible assets in the form of patents, trademarks and designs, as these allow it to access better funding and bring in better returns from investments in R&D+I.

In Spanish industry, universities and in society in general, there is a pressing need for professionals to receive thorough training in Industrial Property so that they can help boost the country’s competitiveness by managing the intangible assets that result from innovation.

The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO) and the Escuela de Organización Industrial (EOI) aim to meet this need by holding a Course in the Administrative Management of Industrial Property (for Paralegals), as all such activities leading to greater knowledge of Industrial Property help improve the competitive position of Spanish companies in global markets by increasing their strategic use of instruments for protection.

For paralegals
The course is designed for ‘paralegals’, that is, professionals from a range of different backgrounds who are not necessarily lawyers and who can provide assistance in the administrative management of the different Industrial Property titles. The fourth edition of this course will begin on 26 May. Around one hundred students received training in the different modules during previous editions of the course. As was the intention, the students came from different backgrounds, representing companies, technology centres, offices for the transfer of research findings (OTRI), universities and Industrial Property agencies and offices.
