Update of the fees of the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, O.A.

With the month of January a new year begins. For this reason, and in accordance with the provisions of article 66.1 of Law 22/2021, of December 28, on General State Budgets for the year 2022, the rates are raised, as of January 1, 2022.

Grants for SMEs from the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) - SME Fund 2022 Program

During 2021, the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO) launched a grant fund of EUR 20 million to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) defray the expenses derived from applications for trademarks, designs and diagnosis of Industrial Property (IP). All of this is part of the Ideas Powered for Business Program, which is in turn part of the European Commission's IP Action Plan and is carried out in collaboration with the national and regional intellectual or industrial property offices of the European Union (EU).

Support Center for SMEs for the Protection of Innovation "CEVIpyme"

The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, O.A. (OEPM), the General Directorate of Industry and Small and Medium Enterprises (DGIPYME) of the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Tourism and the Official Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Services and Navigation of Spain have signed the collaboration agreement for another year to promote the Support Center for SMEs, CEVIpyme, in matters of Industrial and Intellectual Property Rights Management.

Intervention of the Civil Guard of more than 145,000 counterfeit toys in Pinto (Madrid)

The Civil Guard, in an inspection to check and prevent the illegal distribution and sale of toys, has seized more than 145,000 toys and opened an investigation into a possible crime against Industrial Property, in an operation carried out during the Christmas period.

Madrid joins the European Network of Authenticities

On December 29, 2021, an agreement was signed between the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, O.A. (OEPM) and the Madrid City Council by which the city of Madrid is included in the European Network of Authenticities.
