Improvements in “CEO”, the SPTO search database systemThe effective, simple and efficient search in databases is essential in the industrial property protection system of the different modalities, patents, trademarks and industrial designs. In accordance with the objective of continuous renewal and the provision of quality-based services by the SPTO, we have improved the search system of the “CEO” File Consultation Database. With this Database you can access the registration information of the files of the various forms of industrial property. Its operation has been perfected in such a way that it allows precise searches to be carried out, based on different parameters and variables, reducing the time dedicated to carrying out this type of query and covering the need to know the number of a specific file. Specifically, in relation to trademarks and tradenames, using the Advanced Search and using the Type of distinctive field, we can search for sound, three-dimensional, position, movement marks, etc. You can also search by the name of the applicant or by the Denomination of the trademark. This last filter can be conditioned to the fact that the name searched for “contains”, “consists of”, “begins with” or “ends with” a specific term. In addition, it can be refined by filtering by the products or services for which the sign has been applied or is to be registered, as well as by the figurative elements. Likewise, a filter has been included regarding the status of the sign: “in process”, “in force”, expired”, “denied”, among others. The possible combinations of these search options make it easy to get the desired results. In this way, a quick and intuitive tool is made available to citizens that improves the service offered.
