The dissemination of technological information on renewable energies as support for research

Although we are still in May, the abnormal rise in temperatures that we enjoy make us think about the next summer vacation. Criminals don't close their businesses. For this reason, it is a good time to recover the advice that the SPTO gave through this Safe Tourism Guide, which is in 6 languages on the specialized website Stopfalsificaciones.

HOW TO AVOID COUNTERFEITS?

Some advices:

  • The price is suspiciously cheap, beware of bargains
  • Product quality is lower than expected, eg. eg faulty seams or zippers on clothing and leather
  • The product smells of glue, plastic or chemicals
  • Packaging, labeling and images are of poor quality
  • The point of sale is not normal for a product of this class...

…REMEMBER, IF IT'S TOO GOOD TO BE TRUE, IT PROBABLY IS NOT.

HAVE YOU PURCHASED A COUNTERFEIT PRODUCT?

If you have purchased a product that turns out to be a counterfeit copy, you should contact the seller immediately to try to cancel the purchase.

It is important that the original manufacturer is informed that their products are being counterfeited. Only then can you help stop the production and sale of counterfeits.

Inform the original manufacturer of the purchase, preferably by enclosing documentation, for example a copy of any advertising and images of the product you have purchased. Please indicate when and where the product was purchased. On the internet you can find the contact address of the original products. In this way, you will make an important contribution to the fight against counterfeiting.

You can also file a complaint with the National Police (telephone 091) or Municipal Police (telephone 092). In the same way, to file this type of complaint, you can go to the nearest Civil Guard service or contact the 062 telephone number.

The complaint may be formalized either in writing or verbally in the form of a statement. It will contain the identity of the complainant, as well as the information available on the criminal act and alleged offender, to help and guide the State Security Forces and Bodies.

BUYING COUNTERFEIT PRODUCTS HAS CONSEQUENCES

  • For the consumer: low-quality products without guarantees, loss of the right to claim, risk to health and safety...
  • For mafias: contribution to labor exploitation, money laundering, organized crime...
  • For companies: loss of a lot of money, time in court, unfair competition, damage to their image...
  • For the country: destruction of jobs, decrease in public income, disincentive to research, development and innovation, damage to the tourist image...
  • For the environment: production without environmental protection standards or work protocols that promote reduction, recycling or reuse.
