What is International Registration of Industrial Designs?

  • International design is covered by an international design registration system in countries which are part of The Hague Agreement comprising the 1934, 1960, 1967 Acts, the 1975 Geneva Protocol and the 1999 Geneva Act.
  • International Registration may also be requested in order to protect a design in the European Union using this route (see list of members of the Hague Agreement on the website of the WIPO. The system cannot be used to protect international designs in non-member countries.
