What is an industrial design?

In the field of industrial property, industrial design is understood to be a product's appearance or decoration, which makes it visually different to another without taking into account any of its technical or functional features.

As a general rule, an industrial design can consist of:

  • three-dimensional elements, such as the shape of a product
  • two-dimensional elements, such as a product's decoration, figures, lines or colours
  • a combination of elements such as those mentioned above
