From 1 June 2005, all access to the Sitadex and Inpamar databases will be available exclusively online.
Invoices will be issued at the beginning of each month for searches made on the Inpamar database.
On accessing the new search system, the user will be prompted for the terminal ID code (LID) and password.Terminal codes and passwords for the new system are the same as those used for the MENURPI system.
In order to prevent iterative ID and password cracker programs from accessing the system, access will be disabled after the fifth incorrect attempt. To reactivate the service, please contact the SPTO Publications Office on 913495331, difusion@oepm.es.
Once the connection has been established, the user can maintain the connection for as long as necessary to perform the searches required. However, the user will be automatically disconnected after a period of inactivity of more than 180 seconds. This automatic disconnection is necessary in order to prevent inactive connections from unnecessarily consuming resources required by customers on active connections and tying up system resources that may affect system performance.
Once a connection has been interrupted after 180 seconds with no activity, the connection cannot be re-established on the same page. Instead, the system will return to the homepage where the user will need to re-enter the terminal ID code and password.
We recommend the use of the latest versions of Internet Explorer, Opera or Firefox browsers when using our new search system.
After accessing the application, users must use the options provided to navigate their way around the system. In other words, they must use the system's own navigation buttons and not the browser's forward and back buttons. Using the browser's forward and back buttons may lead to unexpected results and navigation problems.
The ideal screen resolution for using this system is 1024 x 768, however, users may select the most suitable resolution for them.
The presentation format for Identity and Similarity Reports on Inpamar is fairly similar to the current system, although a few improvements have been made.Nonetheless, the Identity and Similarity criteria remain unchanged.
This is due, in both cases, to the entry into force of the 8th edition of the Nice Classification establishing service trademark classes 35-45, which can be used for similarity searches.
Since the former class 42 trademarks were not reclassified, similarity searches performed on classes 43, 44 and 45 will also return results for trademarks classified under class 42 of previous editions of the Nice Classification, and will be identified with an asterisk.
For identity and similarity reports, search results are displayed as follows:
Identity Report
Column 1: File Identification
The first letter indicates the category: (M) National Trademark, (N) Trade Name, (R) Business Sign, (I) International Trademark, (A) Community Trademark.
The next 7 digits indicate the file application number.
Column 2: File Status
The codes previously used for national and international trademarks remain the same. Codes VI (in force), TR (processing) and RE (withdrawn) have been added for community trademarks.
Column 3: Application or Priority Date
The application or priority date is included for national and international trademarks, as applicable. For Community trademarks this is the application date.
Column 4: Type of Trademark
(D) Denominative or (M) Mixed
Column 5: Names Returned
Search results for the proposed name.
Column 6: Classes
Indicating the file class(es). This refers to code of the International Classification of Goods and Services.
Similarity Report
The layout of the report is the same as the identity report, except that it does not include Column C since the search is performed on just one class at a time.
