With regard to applications for European patents, the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO) has been informed that applicants are receiving demands for payment that have not been issued by the SPTO or by the European Patent Office (EPO), the European body responsible for granting European patents. Said unofficial demands use names and logos that could lead to confusion as to the origin of the communications. Whatever the reason for said demands, they are in no way connected to the SPTO and its procedures relating to applications and European patents. On the SPTO web page you will find examples of the above mentioned unofficial demands
