Described is a method of producing a pro-oxidant additive to polyolefins, involving reaction of a metal salt of variable valency with sodium soap of a fatty acid or sodium soap, obtained based on fatty acids, extracted from soap blanks of light vegetable oils. Method is carried out in a single-step manner in a double-screw extruder performing simultaneously a function of a reactor for reacting a sodium fatty acid soap (a mixture of fatty acids) with a salt or a metal oxide of variable valence and function of extruder for creation of polyolefin-based pro-oxide additive and obtained metal carboxylate. Time of material stay in reaction volume of extruder makes 4-6 minutes at temperature 190-200 °C. Salt or metal oxide of variable valency is represented by salts or oxides of cobalt, iron or copper, polyethylene is used as a polyolefin to produce a pro-oxidant additive.
