A method of processing iron ore fines from various possible sources, with particle size up to 0.15 mm (through 100 mesh sieve) with no or limited comminution, directly into the intense mixer, with a set of binders in specific proportions, aiming to optimize physical and metallurgical properties of the pellets with minimal binder addition, thus not compromising the quality of steel products. The binders are starch, sodium silicate and sodium hydroxide, among others. The mixture with adjusted moisture content goes through conventional balling discs or drums and size screening. The green pellets then undergo drying with forced air at around 150° C. for a short time. The pellets obtained have excellent metallurgical properties, and compression resistance around 70 kgf/pellets, without the high and undesirable economic and environmental costs of the conventional indurating process. An alternative embodiment (FIG. 3) considers indurating the pellets at temperatures below 1,200° C. to obtain similar mechanical resistance than pellets made by the conventional induration process, with temperatures above 1,300° C.

A microwave popcorn bag for containing and heating popcorn kernels in a microwave oven. The bag is constructed of a laminated fibrous material and comprises a base panel, top panel, side panels, and interior space. The side panels have gussets with fold areas and fold lines that are adjacent to the base panel and that enable the bag to expand. An oil-resistant microwave susceptor film is laminated with the fibrous material and extends laterally across the base panel and the fold lines into the fold areas. Microwave interactive material is confined to the base panel. As the popcorn is heated, the bag expands and the microwave susceptor film forms a tray structure that collects oil and resists it penetrating through the fibrous material.

The present invention relates to the field of oil-water separation. Disclosed in the present invention are a high-strength starch frozen gel having super-hydrophobicity and a preparation method therefor. According to the present invention, compounding a small amount of polyvinyl alcohol (less than 10 wt%, relative to dry starch) and starch improves the strength of starch frozen gel, and the starch frozen gel is not easy to crack and damage in chemical and physical processing processes. Moreover, the starch frozen gel is modified by hexadecyl trimethoxysilane and tetraethoxysilane, so that the starch frozen gel is endowed with a super-hydrophobic characteristic. The used starch and polyvinyl alcohol are both biodegradable materials, and the preparation process does not relate to a modification reagent having toxicity and pollution, and conforms to the green and environmental protection requirements. The prepared high-strength super-hydrophobic starch frozen gel shows excellent water repellency and oil absorption, and is suitable for cleaning work of marine oil leakage.
