Each of the Regional Centres presented an analysis of their actions over the previous year

Annual Meeting of Regional IP Information Centres (PatLib Centres)

On 18 October the Annual Meeting of Regional Industrial Property information Centres was held in Pamplona. It was attended by representatives from the Autonomous Communities of Andalusia, Aragon, Asturias, the Canaries, Castile-León, Extremadura, Galicia, La Rioja, Madrid, Murcia, Navarre, the Basque Country and Valencia, as well as SPTO representatives. During the meeting, the main novelties regarding both the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO) and Industrial Property in general were explained. Specifically, in view of the approval of the new Patent Law on 25 July, a detailed study was made of the draft regulations stemming from this Law which will enter into force on 1 April 2017.

Sharing experiences
As is now traditional, the meeting continued with the sharing of opinions and experiences, with each of the Regional Centres presenting an analysis of their actions over the previous year. This activity serves as the basis for evaluating the actions taken by each Autonomous Community in the field of Industry Property.

On 19 October, as part of the activities of the Carlos Fernandez-Nóvoa Chair in Innovation and Industrial Property, a session was held on ‘Industrial Property and Renewable Energies’, with talks on the new Patent Law and Patents and Technologies for Mitigating Climate Change. Information was also given about IP services in Navarre.

The meeting closed with a visit made by all the participants to the facilities of the 2nd Generation Biofuel Centre of the National Centre for Renewable Energies (CENER).
