Do not miss a thing

As usual, here are the monthly Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO) news, so you are informed of what happens in the world of Industrial Property.

Firstly, we would like to point out that our Office has begun to send renewal and expiry date notices to the representatives and applicants of Industrial Designs since March 1st. These notices are not binding, but just informative, their goal is to inform users of the effective expiry date of a design or the date when it should be renewed. This way, the register management is improved, and the monitoring deadline workload is reduced. The data recorded should be always updated to guarantee that the notices fulfil their purpose. If there was any change in the data or if the applicant wanted to cancel or relinquish the title, he/she should notify it as soon as possible at the SPTO electronic platform:https://sede.oepm.gob.es/eSede/es/disenos/DocuRelativosRepresentacionDI/index.html
If the holder did not have a representative and did not provide his/her email address, he/she could do it by sending an email to DisenoExpres@oepm.es.

Secondly, the SPTO in cooperation with the Spanish Technology Platform of Wind Power (REOLTEC) has recently published the new Technology Alert on Floating Wind Power. The absence of a continental platform at the coast of the Iberian Peninsula and its Islands has been the impediment for the use of wind power collection facilities, placed at the sea bottom, in Spain. However, the Spanish coast has a huge potential that could be used thanks to the aerogenerators on floating structures. The constant improvement on the wind collection performance and cost leads us to think that the inventions on floating wind technology will also suffer a growth, caused by the great interest that this technology raises at global level. This Technology Alert is aimed to spread the inventions made in this technical field, what is one of the main missions of the SPTO. Technology alerts provide global daily updated information related to a particular technical topic and they can be consulted at the SPTO website, there are already 30 Alerts that cover different technical fields.

Lastly, we are pleased to announce that on April 2nd 2019 was published at the Official State Gazette the 'Royal Decree 211/2019, of May 29th, that approves the Public Job Offer for 2019'. This offer follows the line of the previous public job offers as reflects its Annex 1, General Administration of the State, that states an offer of 18 vacancies for the SPTO professional team (Escala de Titulados Superiores del MITC), one of them reserved for disabled people. Concurrently and as we have already published on previous numbers of our bulletin the Selection Process corresponding the Public Job Offer 2018 is opened at present.
