Report on the International Exhibition of Inventions GenevaEdition number 47 The 47th edition of the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva, considered an essential meeting in the world of innovations at global level, was held from April 10th to 14th 2019 (Palais des Expositions et des Congrès Genève, PALEXPO). The event, sponsored by the Swiss Government, the City of Geneva and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), is recognized as the most remarkable exhibition of inventions at international level. For this reason, more than 800 exhibitors from more than 40 countries took part of it. Furthermore, each year 1,000 of unpublished inventions are launched in this context by companies, researchers, inventors, universities and private and public entities. This high attendance is due to the fast international spreading of the inventions present at the Exhibition. The grand prix and the 50 special prizes awarded in this event, some of them by National IP Offices, are a way of publicly recognizing the value of inventions in the technological and economic development of the different countries. As in previous years, the SPTO supported the Spanish inventors who attended the Exhibition by offering them information on the system of Patents and Utility Models, public grants and all the services that the Office provides to propel the inventive activity (available at our website: www.oepm.es). Besides, the SPTO gave a commemorative plaque to the best Spanish invention of the Exhibition. On this occasion the prize awarded the ‘Stretcher for people with reduced mobility’, of Manuel Jacinto Borges Belza. In addition, Sinforiano José Posadas was awarded with the Prize García Cabreirizo for his thinner for automotive paints. There are other great news for the Spanish delegation, since the International Jury composed of more than 70 personalities of the science and technology world awarded each Spanish invention with a medal:
From the SPTO we would like to congratulate all the winners, especially the Spanish ones, and underline their great job, persistence and inventiveness. The complete winners list can be found at the following link.
