Organisational structure of the SPTO and what it is attached to.

The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, O.A. is attached to the Ministry of industry, trade and tourism (MINCOTUR), in accordance with Royal Decree 998/2018 of 3 August, which implements the basic organic structure of the Ministry of industry, trade and tourism, specifying assignment to the Undersecretariat for  industry, trade and tourism and designating the Under-secretary as the hierarchical head of the SPTO.

The current SPTO structure is the following:

• The President of the Organisation is the head of the Undersecretariat for industry, trade and tourism.
• Director of the Organisation.
• Support unit.
• General Secretary.
• Department of Patent and Technological Information.
• Distinctive Signs Department.
• Legal Co-ordination and International Relations Department.
• Information Technology Division.
