Payment by card is now possible

Since 1 December 2013, the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO) has made it possible for users to make certain official payments by bank card. This amounts to an improvement in computerisation within the SPTO, offering a better, more flexible service to users and increasing payment methods.

Payment can now be made with both credit and debit cards of the Visa or MasterCard type through the SPTO website. Initially, payment by card will only be possible for formalities relating to trademarks, brand names and industrial designs, but this option will gradually be made available for the payment of other official SPTO fees.

This payment method cannot be used for bulk fees which will have to be paid in the usual way. With this method, electronic certificate will no longer be required.
