Celebration of the 10th anniversary of the TRANSFIERE Forum in MalagaOn April 14 and 15, 2021, the 10th edition of TRANSFIERE, the European Forum for Science, Technology and Innovation, took place at the “Palacio de Ferias y Congresos” of Málaga. This Forum is promoted by public institutions of different territorial representation in the Government of Spain, specifically, the Ministry of Science and Innovation, the Junta de Andalucía, through the Andalusian Agency for Knowledge and Universities and the Malaga City Council. The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, O.A. (SPTO) is also part of the Organizing Committee. TRANSFIERE has been conceived as a unique space in Spain to promote transfer and cooperation between the scientific field and the business sector. Scientists from Universities and public and private Research Centers can transmit the knowledge they generate to companies and producing agents in the R&D sector. For their part, SMEs and micro-SMEs have the opportunity to offer their products and services to large companies demanding technology. The SPTO is committed to this initiative and its presence was highlighted in this Forum as it is one of the PROMOTING entities and a member of the ORGANIZING COMMITTEE. The SPTO attended the event with a stand in the Public Administrations area and managed numerous "online" appointments during the Forum. In addition, it actively collaborated in the “Foro Transfiere” Journalism Award, which is consolidating itself as a benchmark award in the sector. The Director of the SPTO, José Antonio Gil Celedonio, moderated a round table named “European Funds Next Generation: Recovery Plan for Europe." In addition, the SPTO participated in other parallel activities in collaboration with third-party institutions or organizations: for example, a seminar together with the PI + D + I Network (coordinated by the CDTI); a meeting with Technological Platforms together with AEI and CDTI, and a meeting addressed to OTRIs, also together with CDTI. This year the Forum has had a marked national character and greater importance has been given to advances in innovation and research related to the health field in light of everything that happened during the pandemic caused by COVID-19. In the words of our Director from the SPTO, we will continue to support the innovative business fabric, as well as the public sector, to promote the R&D cycle and technology transfer.
