Summer courses of the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office

Summer is here, and with it, the summer courses that the SPTO has traditionally held for years.

On this occasion, we have started in Alicante, with a course jointly organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the University of Alicante, and the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, O.A.: The future of distinctive signs and Geographical indications: legal-business challenges.

During this course, conferences and round tables are held aimed at examining the relationship between distinctive signs and other modalities, and at better understanding these industrial property rights as an instrument of social, cultural, technological and economic development, as well as showing the role and functions that WIPO performs in the global administration of industrial and intellectual property.

This course, in hybrid format, began on July 4 and runs until July 15.

On the other hand, from July 25 to 29, 2022, the 16th edition of the Summer Course organized jointly by the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, O.A. (SPTO) and the UIMP.

In this edition, the theme will be “The future of industrial property, in light of the 30 years of the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office”. The purpose of the seminar is to analyze the challenges that we face in relation to industrial property in matters such as Artificial Intelligence, the Economic Indicators of Industrial Property, the European Union Action Plan or Inventions in technological sectors such as biotechnology or Essential Patents.7

This seminar will analyze the challenges for the future of Industrial Property from the perspective of the experience of the last 30 years of the SPTO.
