VET innova: New portal for R&D+I in the field of animal health

The Spanish Animal Health Technology Platform, Vet+i, has set up a new website with a view to facilitating public and private collaboration and the transfer of knowledge and technology to the development of innovative animal health services and products, and identifying new opportunities for cooperation and internationalisation of the science-technology-business system.

The new portal aims to be a pioneering tool in the field of animal health in Spain as it provides a large data base on R&D+i. The idea is to give greater visibility to scientific and technological knowledge in this field so that it can be transferred to the production fabric for transformation into new products and services.

Cooperation with the whole community
This portal is open to all animal health concerns, public research bodies, university research groups, science and technology centres and other private research centres. It aims to facilitate two-way cooperation between the knowledge-generating community and the world of business. VET innova offers five functions:

  • Identification and compilation of research lines. Firms, research centres and other animal health experts interested in including specific information may use the on-line forms available in the ‘Contributions’ section.
  • Information on the transferrable results of research generated by the scientific community in order to enhance the transfer to and use of findings by the business sector.
  • Promotion of the transfer of patents published by the Spanish scientific community to the industrial sector, by identifying and disseminating patents applied for and granted in the field of animal health in Spain.
  • Greater use of Singular Scientific and Technology Infrastructures (ICTS - Infraestructuras Científicas y Tecnológicas Singulares) and other technology and research centres in the animal health field and of their qualified personnel.
  • Greater knowledge among firms and/or research centres on matters of interest for businesses, including SMEs, with a view to establishing future collaboration for R&D+I projects.
  • Promotion of joint projects and Spanish participation in technological cooperation programmes by means of a consortium search service.
  • Listing of regulatory requirements for the R&D+I stages in order to ensure compliance during the registration of veterinary drugs.
