The Spanish Government opens its Transparency Portal

As a result of the entry into force of the obligations regarding active publicity and the right to access to public information laid down in the Law on Transparency, Access to Public Information and Good Governance, on 10 December the Spanish Government opened its Transparency Portal. This provides updated information from the General State Administration in all the categories of active publicity established by the Transparency Law

The Portal includes over half a million data entries, but this figure will increase over time as citizens make more frequent queries. These will also be published on the web site.

In order to promote accessibility and transparency, the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office has entered a large amount of documentation on this web site for public consultation. Citizens will be able to access the body’s Organisational Structure, where they will be able to see the CVs of its main officials, the Draft Law on Patents, more than 70 agreements and administrative recommendations signed at national level with the public sector (FNMT, ICEX, Ministry of Defence, ADIF, etc.), the private sector (Repsol, Telefónica, Gamesa, EADS, Andema, etc.), most of the Autonomous Communities (Valencia, Catalonia, Basque Country, etc.), universities (Complutense University of Madrid, University of Salamanca, etc.) and extensive documentation on procurement.
