The MINCOTUR announces the creation of the Committee Against Professional Intrusion to analyse the situation of counterfeiting in Spain

In the context of the Sectorial Conference on Domestic Trade

The global market which prevails today entails a greater offer for the user and a larger field for companies. However, it also involves a higher counterfeiting risk, a change in consuming habits and the spring of some practices that may lessen small business projection. For these reasons, it is necessary to work not only on a large scale but also at the local level to provide our market with the assortment and quality demanded by both entrepreneurs and clients.

In this regard, on September 18th 2018 was held the Sectorial Conference on Domestic Trade that was chaired by Ms. María Reyes Maroto Illera, MINCOTUR Principal (Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism), at the Ministry headquarters. This was the ideal context to present the Supporting Plan for the Retail Trade Competitiveness 2019-2020, whose basic guidelines are: updating, adjustment to new technologies and consumer habits change, preservation of city commercial centres and promotion of urban commercial areas.

One of the main points of the plan is the creation of a Committee against professional intrusion, which will analyse the situation of counterfeiting in Spain. The results will be taken as the starting point to develop a National Plan against counterfeiting. Local entities will cooperate in the task through the FEMP, that took part in the Conference. Representatives of various Regions also attended the meeting and expressed their satisfaction with the proposed initiatives.
