Conference ‘Industrial Property, Intellectual Property and Spanish Constitution’40th anniversary of the Spanish Charter ‘The Spanish Constitution will not solve all our problems, but we all will have a leading role of our history’ Adolfo Suárez, President of the Spanish Government between 1976-1981 The current Spanish Constitution, approved by referendum of the Spanish people on December 6th 1978, has allowed the democratic coexistence in Spain during the last forty years. The Conference ‘Industrial Property, Intellectual Property and Spanish Constitution’ was held past December 20th and 21st, on the occasion of the 40th anniversary of the Spanish Constitution. The conference was organized by the SPTO, the General Direction of Cultural Industries and Cooperation, the International Association for the Protection of Intellectual Property (AIPPI) and the Spanish National Library (BNE, by its Spanish acronym) and took place at the BNE headquarters. The meeting shown the attendees the connection that exists between the Spanish Charter and the Industrial and Intellectual Property rights protected by it. The event was attended by university professors, magistrates from the Constitutional Court and the Supreme Court, SPTO and EUIPO representatives and agents from the private sector, as well as a hundred of attendees. The speeches dealt with various topics such as the constitutional development during the last forty years and the near-future perspective, the Intellectual Property in constitutional Spain, the evolution on Trademarks Regulation from the approval of the Spanish Constitution and the Industrial Property future considering the productive model change. The event closing ceremony, which was held on December 21st, was presided by Fernando Valdés Verelst, Deputy Secretary of the Spanish Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism as well as SPTO President, who expressed his joy for the success of the conference.
