European Cooperation: new improvements to the Front and Back-Office for Designs at the OEPMWithin the framework of the European Cooperation Projects of the EUIPO, the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, O.A. (SPTO), has completed the update of the Technology Stack of the Design Front Office System and has incorporated a new set of functionalities for the Design Back-Office System. Specifically, the update of the technology stack increases the security, performance, and efficiency of the Front Office System. This will facilitate the general maintenance of the system due to the simplification of the architecture and will also provide a better user experience thanks to the reduced response time and improvements in data validation. At the same time, regarding the improvements and new functionalities of Back Office, the project is divided into five packages of improvements and ad-hoc developments. Specifically, the fourth package of improvements has been launched, including seven new developments, which significantly improve the efficiency and operational effectiveness of the Back-Office System. One of the goals of these enhancements is to automate some parts of the examination process to reduce the possibility of potential delays and avoid errors resulting from manual data entry. Finally, this version also includes proof of use functionality that will allow compliance with new trademark regulations related to oppositions to designs that are similar to a trademark. In conclusion, the ultimate purpose of these implementations is to benefit users through improvements of the tools and services available to them.
