Celebration of the virtual workshop on the LATIPAT ProgramOn October 26 and 27, the virtual workshop on the development of capacities for the exchange of patent information took place, organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) and the European Patent Office (EPO) and framed in the activities of the LATIPAT project. LATIPAT is a cooperation project between the OEPM, WIPO and the EPO, which also has the participation of 19 Intellectual and Industrial Property Offices in Latin America. Created with the aim of promoting the exchange of information on Patents and improving the electronic publication of information on Patents, LATIPAT contributes to the dissemination of technical knowledge and therefore to technological and economic development in Latin America and Spain and allows more than 2.5 million bibliographic data and more than a million images through the link https://lp.espacenet.com/. The main objective of this workshop was to promote the use of the WIPO Optical Character Recognition tool in the full texts of patent documents published between the offices of the LATIPAT member countries. The OEPM celebrates the success of the workshop, as well as the fruitful conclusions drawn in order to continue joining forces for the development of the program.
