Round table: Crossing borders: The possibilities of international expansion of brands
On June 2, the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, O.A. (SPTO) streamed a round table in which the possibilities of international expansion of brands were analyzed to make products known in foreign markets and facilitate their distribution in them in an increasingly globalized economy.
The international expansion of companies must go hand in hand with adequate protection of trademark rights in the international arena that guarantee the security of the entrepreneur and his commercial success. The Madrid System for the international registration of trademarks has been evolving to become a process with simple, fast, safe and economical procedures, and offers the owner of a national trademark its internationalization, with a wide variety of options that allow covering the multiple and various needs of your company.
After the initial speech by the Deputy Director of the SPTO's Distinctive Signs Department, Belén Luengo García, the speakers at the round table: Juan Uceda Requena, Head of the SPTO's Distinctive Signs Examination Area, Aurea Plana, Legal Manager of the System of Madrid for the International Trademark Registry of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), and Marifé Piñero Montes, Lawyer specializing in Industrial Property at Mahou San Miguel, delved into the issues, needs and challenges related to the international expansion of the brand.
