Cooperation agreement between the SPTO and the Principality of Asturias in matters of Industrial Property

We are convinced that the relationships between the different institutions that manage Industrial Property in one way or another are essential for adequate knowledge and application of industrial property among companies, entrepreneurs and the public. Therefore, from the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, O.A. (SPTO) a series of agreements are being signed with the representative entities of the Autonomous Communities that are related to industrial property.

The first of these agreements has been with the Institute for Economic Development of the Principality of Asturias (IDEPA). The agreement signed between IDEPA and SPTO aims to establish a collaboration framework between the two institutions, to disseminate the technological information subject to registration, as well as to promote greater and better knowledge, protection and observance of Industrial Property rights in the Autonomous Community. Likewise, within the framework of this agreement, activities to combat the counterfeiting of Industrial Property rights may be carried out.

In the year 2000, a first framework agreement was drawn up, to which the Principality of Asturias adhered in 2004 and later other Autonomous Communities, establishing what we know today as Regional Information Centers on Industrial Property matters.

This cooperation agreement therefore replaces the previous one and is the first to be signed with the new standardized agreement model, to which the different Autonomous Communities will gradually adhere.
