Andalucía TRADE and OEPM Meeting

The general director of Andalucía TRADE met with the director of the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, O.A. (OEPM), to share the industrial property services provided by the Junta de Andalucía within the framework of the collaboration agreement between both institutions.

The purpose of this agreement, valid until 2027, is to provide information and facilitate the processing of the protection of inventions, designs and trademarks of Andalusians. These services will be provided from now on by Andalucía TRADE, as the agency of the Andalusian Government that brings together the services to the business network.

Among the services that Andalucía TRADE will provide are the advice and registration of applications for patents, trademarks and designs, being its users the self-employed, SMEs, technology centers and institutions of Andalusia. The registration of applications at the offices of the new Andalusian agency gives a validity date for acquiring exclusive rights, although advice is currently provided on the use of online registration through the SPTO's electronic headquarters, which reduces costs and procedures.

In addition, Andalucía TRADE, as Regional Industrial Property Center, will collaborate in actions to promote and disseminate the importance of industrial property protection.

Overall, Andalucía TRADE is expected to attend an average of 7,000 actions per year, including consultations and registration of applications and official documentation for the maintenance of rights.
