The magazine Economía Industrial dedicates a monographic issue to the SPTO for its 200th anniversaryNothing less than two centuries have passed since the creation of the Royal Conservatory of Arts in 1824. This institution is the direct predecessor of the current Spanish Patent and Trademark Office which, throughout history and under different names, has been responsible for protecting Industrial Property rights in Spain. To commemorate this historic event, the magazine Economía Industrial, of the Ministry of Industry and Tourism, has dedicated its 433rd issue to the preparation of a monograph on the occasion of the 200th anniversary of the SPTO. Economía Industrial is an official quarterly publication that was born in 1964 with a public service vocation that it retains today. With civil society as its target audience, its mission is to serve as a forum for reflection, prescription and accountability to improve the formulation of public policies within the Ministry of Industry and Tourism's sphere of competence. The monographic issue dedicated to the anniversary of the SPTO covers the 200 years of history of this institution from its origins to the present day, without forgetting the challenges of the future. The magazine is therefore essential reading for those who practice their profession or carry out their studies in the Industrial Property sector. The presentation was made by the Undersecretary of Industry and Tourism and President of the SPTO, Pablo Garde. The publication is structured in four blocks, each dedicated to the two centuries of industrial property in Spain, the role of the SPTO as a reference body in the field, the current crossroads at which industrial property systems are developing and, finally, future challenges. The SPTO is deeply grateful to all the authors for their contribution to the commemoration of an event that makes it a bicentennial institution. This month of December took place a commemorative event for this event, in which several of the authors participated.
