Industrial property at the 19th Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government

On November 29 and December 1, 2009, the 19th Ibero-American Summit of Heads of State and Government was held in the Portuguese city of Estoril. The Summit, which was dedicated to innovation and knowledge, incorporated in its Action Plan a reference to Industrial Property for the first time, resulting in institutional support of cooperation activities that the SPTO has been carrying out in Ibero-America along with its counterparts in the region.

The reference appears in the 6th point of what's called the Lisbon Action Plan, whose text is as follows:

To entrust the Ibero-American Secretary General (SEGIB) to proceed with a study to serve as the foundation for implementing an Ibero-American Program to be presented at a possible meeting held in Buenos Aires on industrial property and promoting development, encouraging the exchange of information through the interconnection of public databases of industrial property in both Spanish and Portuguese languages, as well as developing existing training activities and promoting the transfer of technology. This study shall particularly incorporate the Offices of Industrial Property, the Academic and Research Sector and the Business Sector, in particular, and Small and Mid-Sized Enterprises (SMEs).
