Tribute to Carlos Fernández-Nóvoa

On 24 September in Seville (Spain), the Spanish Patents and Trademark Office, the Escuela de Organización Industrial and the Andalusian Agency for Innovation and Development (IDEA) organised a tribute to Professor Carlos Fernández-Nóvoa, a leading name in the field of Industrial Property in Spanish legislation.

This tribute formed part of the activities of the Carlos Fernández-Nóvoa Chair in Innovation and Industrial Property that was set up in 2011 as a result of collaboration between two important bodies with a relevant role in teaching and belonging to the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism – the Escuela de Organización Industrial (EOI), and the Spanish Patents and Trademark Office (OEPM). The aim of the Chair is to promote both an integrated system of training and information in the field of Industrial Property and Innovation, and the transfer of knowledge between universities and the business world.

The event was opened by the Director General of the OEPM, Patricia García-Escudero, and those present included relevant figures from the world of Industrial Property such as Alberto Casado, Vice-President of the European Patents Office, José Manual Otero Lastres and Carlos Lema Devesa, both of whom are Professors of Mercantile Law, Antonio Valverde, Director General of the Andalusian IDEA Agency, and Fernando Bayón Mariné, Director General of the EOI.
