Awards for the best invention protected by Industrial Property rights

Inventive activity in all economies is of undoubted importance, and not only in advanced countries, but also in those that are in the process of industrialization. This inventive activity, duly supported and protected, generates a benefit both for its owner and for the rest of society, promoting technological development and economic growth.

In order to highlight the inventive capacity and the proper use of the patent and utility model system, the Award for Best Invention Protected by Industrial Property Rights was published in the Spanish Bulletin (BOE) on January 28.

The purpose is to distinguish the protection of research results through Patents and Utility Models granted in 2020 by the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, OA, (OEPM), thus publicly recognizing the value of protected and competitively Spanish R&D in the market.

The categories for which it is convened are:

• Best Patent
• Best Young Inventor Patent
• Best Patent of a Woman Inventor
• Best Utility Model
• Best Young Inventor Utility Model
• Best Utility Model of a female inventor

There is also the possibility of obtaining a special mention.

The filing and presentation of applications must be done electronically, through the Electronic portal of the OEPM (oepm.gob.es), ending the presentation period on March 15, 2022.
