Publication in the B.O.E. of the Consolidated text of the Common Regulations of the Madrid Arrangement and the Protocol in relation to this arrangement
The Madrid system for international brand registration, managed by OMPI, offers holders of rights the possibility for the protection thereof in several countries by simply submitting a request, in just one language, paying specific fees in a single currency (Swiss francs). The “Sistema de Madrid para el registro internacional de marcas” (Madrid System for the International Registration of Trade Marks) is governed by two treaties: the Arreglo de Madrid relativo al Registro Internacional de Marcas (the Madrid Arrangement for the International Registration of Trade Marks) of 1891 and the Protocol in relation to the 1989 Madrid Arrangement for the International Registration of Trade Marks). These treaties are, in turn, developed in the Common Execution Regulations, enacted by the Madrid Union Assembly on 19 January 1996.
The objective of the current publication of the consolidated text of the Common Regulations of the Madrid Arrangement and the Protocol thereof is to offer the public a consolidated version to facilitate its consultation and application by including all the amendments made since its implementation.
