WIPO services and initiativesDuring the month of July, the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), in collaboration with the Spanish Patents and Trademark Office (OEPM), organised a series of meetings in different Spanish cities in order to make its services better known among users. Under the slogan “WIPO Services and Initiatives”, these meetings in Spain were based on the study of international systems for Industrial Property protection (PCT, Madrid System, Hague System) and the tools, platforms and data bases made available by WIPO for any interested parties, such as the WIPO Arbitration and Mediation Centre. These seminars took place in Bilbao (2 July), Seville (4 July) and Madrid (5 July). The mission of WIPO is to promote innovation and creativity for the economic, social and cultural development of all countries, through a balanced and effective international intellectual property system. WIPO manages systems that help users to obtain international protection for patents, trademarks, designs and Designations of Origin and to solve IP disputes. It also helps develop Intellectual and Industrial Property legislation, bearing in mind the changing needs of society. In addition and amongst other functions, it provides statistics and economic analyses in the field of IP. For further information, click here.
