SPTO Subsidies

On 3 December, the Final Decisions were published on applications for subsidies under the 2013 programme of ‘Aid for Patent and Utility Model applications’ both within Spain and internationally.

This aid was established in 2006 to encourage applications for patents in foreign countries and, in 2010, for patents and utility models in Spain.

Trends
In the case of the Spanish national programme, the budget has been adapted to the applications made. The international programme has become consolidated over recent years and has been growing constantly since the start. The Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO) is aware of the importance of internationalisation for Spanish businesses so makes every effort to meet the demand for this type of aid. The following graphs show trends in both applications and the budget for the two programmes.
