Fractus, finalist in the European Inventor Award 2014A group of inventors from a company called Fractus and based in San Cugat del Vallés (Barcelona) were nominated for the European Inventor Award 2014, in the SME category. This Award is granted annually by the European Patent Office and is considered the 'Oscar' of European technology. There are five awards in the following categories: Industry, Small and Medium Enterprises, Research, “Non-European countries”, “Lifetime Achievement, as well as a “Popular Prize” for whichever of the fifteen candidates nominated receives most on-line votes. This is the third nomination for Spanish inventors since the event was launched in 2006. The others were in 2010 and 2013 when José Luis López Gómez was nominated in the Industry section and won the Popular Prize. Fractus, a world leader in antennas for wireless devices The patents for which the inventors Carles Puente Baliarda, Jordi Soler, Carmen Borja Borau, Jaume Anguera Pros and Edouard Rozan were nominated are: EP1223637B1, entitled “Multilevel antennas”, with PCI application number WO0122528, and an SPTO international search report. The winner was announced on 17 June in Berlin (Germany). In the SME category, the winner was a Danish water treatment company. For further information, click here.
