IP Training activities 2018Interesting educational proposals that will take place soon One of the SPTO main purposes is to boost initiatives that lead to a better IP knowledge. To accomplish this essential task the Office works side by side with educational institutions and bodies that promote and spread the importance that IP has for business activity. In this article, we would like to recommend you two educational proposals that will take place soon. Firstly, the 8th edition of the Course on IP Administrative Management (Paralegals), organized by the SPTO and the Industrial Organization School (EOI) as part of the activities of the ‘Cátedra Carlos Fernández-Nóvoa’ of Innovation and IP, whose goal is to promote an integrated training and information system to simplify mutual knowledge transfer between companies and universities. The course is aimed at IP Agencies professionals, staff of IP Departments of companies, University OTRIS, Technology Parks and OPIS, and, on the whole, all professionals interested on IP managements. The course will be held in Madrid from June to November 2018 and it will consist of 5 independent modules; thus, register for the full course will not be necessary being possible the enrolment by modules until the starting date of each. Secondly, another activity just as interesting as the previous one, the WIPO Summer School 2018, organized by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO), the SPTO and the Industrial Organization School Foundation (EOI). The course is aimed at undergraduates on their final years of study and young professionals who wish to enlarge their knowledge on Industrial and Intellectual Property. The goal of it is to provide students useful information on the various fields of IP and make them understand better their role in economic, social, cultural and technological development. The course will be held in Madrid from July 2nd to 13th in morning and afternoon sessions and it will consist of several modules where the different IP aspects will be discussed in depth with the help of national and international experts in this field (SPTO and WIPO civil servants, as well as private consultants). It is a great opportunity to learn, from different points of view, not just about the IP reality but also about its relation with other disciplines. The course will count on conferences, practical cases study, simulation exercises, group debates on specific topics and visits to the headquarters of different official bodies such as the SPTO and the CSIC. Enrolment can be done at WIPO website, where more detailed information can be also found. We encourage you to consult it! And last but not least the 13th Edition of the Summer Course organized jointly by the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office, O.A. and the Menéndez Pelayo International University (UIMP) in Santander, from July 9 to 13, 2018. This year the theme will be: "Protecting innovation: Industrial or Intellectual Property?" and it will include the latest developments affecting Industrial and Intellectual Property and the convenience of protecting innovations through one or another modality. This course constitutes every year a strategic forum for meeting the leaders of national and European Industrial Property. It is aimed at students, SMEs, professionals and in general anyone who has an interest in approaching Industrial Property or wants to delve into certain aspects of it. The registration period is now open and does not end until the start date of the course. The scholarship request deadline ends on June 15.
