Report on the 46th International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva

Good job of the Spanish delegation

The 46th edition of the International Exhibition of Inventions Geneva was held from April 11th to 15th 2018 at the Palexpo Congress Centre located in the Swiss city. Registered figures (822 exhibitors from 40 countries, 1,000 inventions, 9,000 square metres and 31,050 visitors) confirm its position as one of the most important specialist events of its kind in the world.

The award ceremony was celebrated on April 13th and we can proudly say that the Spanish delegation made a good job with 4 Gold Medals (2 of them with a special jury recognition), 2 Silver Medals and 3 Bronze Medals.

The Special Prize of the SPTO went to Emilio Blasco Monter for his ‘Special articulated tool for working in places with difficult access’. This tool replaces several rigid tools in the market, such as the ‘Stilson’, the adjustable wrench, the chain wrench or the ‘MasterGrip’. In addition to the SPTO Prize, Blasco Monter was awarded with the Prize of the Spirit of Enterprise offered by the Circle of the Leaders of Enterprises – CDE.

The García Cabrerizo Prize went to Fernando Castro Rojas for his ‘Double dental implant’ invention consisting of an implant formed by two bodies (upper and lower), being possible to remove the upper one in case of infection (peri-implantitis) what makes possible to preserve the prosthesis with the inferior body and avoid a new surgery.

Besides, both inventors got an Exhibition Gold Medal and, Emilio Blasco Monter got also a special jury recognition.

Regarding the Grand Prix of the Jury of this 46th International Exhibition of Inventions of Geneva, went to professors Mr. Carly Sy Lam and Mr. Chi Ho To from Hong Kong for their ‘Multi-segment spectacle lens designed to defocus short-range vision, which allows myopia control’.
