April 26, 2020 - World Intellectual Property Day

Every April 26 is celebrated the Intellectual Property World Day (PI), international commemoration created in 2000 by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) to publicize the role of Industrial Property Rights and Intellectual (RPI) in promoting innovation and creativity.

With this year's slogan, “Innovate for a green future”, WIPO focuses on innovative initiatives to achieve a green future with the conviction of IP rights that can help achieve a transition towards a sustainable economy and lower carbon emissions.

Patents, trademarks and designs can help us to achieve a brighter future, from the development of green technologies, the creation of ecological products, the principles of sustainability of the companies to the most sustainable use of natural resources.

This campaign also pays tribute to the many inventors and creators around the world who are inspirational and committed to a green future.

This year WIPO makes visible success stories of companies and inventors who have dedicated innovation to developing extraordinary initiatives to find solutions to global problems.

As expected, the traditional events that took place on these dates have been displaced by the global pandemic, having been replaced by virtual celebrations.

To celebrate this day, the SPTO has created a banner on the website aimed at making visible our commitment made for years with the diffusion and promotion of green technologies and sustainable economy. In it you can find, in addition to the Technological Surveillance Bulletins and Technological Alerts related to them, success stories of Spanish companies and inventors who have invested their effort, their knowledge and their R&D in this field. We have called them “our green companies”.
