The SME Fund 2025 closes with great success and prepares for its next edition

The SME Fund is a grant program designed to help small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the EU protect their industrial and intellectual property rights. The SME Fund is an initiative of the European Commission implemented by the European Union Intellectual Property Office (EUIPO).

The SME Fund 2025 officially closed its applications on Friday, December 5, with a very positive outcome: thousands of European SMEs have taken advantage of this opportunity to take a step forward in protecting their industrial property assets.

Results of the 2025 call:

• Applications received: 35,821 in total, submitted by 34,411 SMEs.

• Reimbursements made: 31,345 IP activities, benefiting 25,087 SMEs.

• Budget executed: €14.7 million.

• New SMEs in IP: 77% of participating SMEs were new to this field.

• Speed of management: 8 working days on average to decide on grants and 28 days to make payments.

These figures show that the program has not only been very well received, but has also been agile and efficient in its management.

Looking to the future: SME Fund 2026

The new call for applications for the SME Fund 2026 is expected to open on February 2, with an informative webinar scheduled for January 27. This edition is expected to continue expanding the scope of the program and reinforce its impact in both the European Union and Ukraine.

SPTO encourages all SMEs to participate and take advantage of this opportunity to strengthen their competitiveness through industrial property.
