New WIPO services

The World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) has launched two new web sites in its role as ‘facilitator’ between businesses, countries and regions, to promote innovation and expand the use of technology. The first, named “South-South Cooperation”, encourages cooperation between developing countries in the field of Intellectual and Industrial Property (IP). WIPO aims to serve as a catalyst for activities relating to IP, fostering promising initiatives and facilitating mutually beneficial exchanges.

The second, "Wipo Green", sets up an interactive Internet market for green technologies. This market will serve as a platform for offers and requests in the sector, facilitating contacts between suppliers and potential buyers.

Multilingual data base
Another service that has recently been set up by WIPO is the "PEARL" multilingual data base of scientific and technical terms, which aims to ensure that scientific terms are used with precision in each language, facilitating both searches for and dissemination of scientific knowledge. Access to this data base, which is free of charge, is via the web site interface. It includes over 90,000 terms and 15,000 concepts in 10 languages, all of which have been inserted and checked by WIPO experts.
