The introduction of the Spanish language into the international design system
Last September 28, during the meeting of the WIPO Governing Assembly, the Hague Assembly, which manages International Design Treaties, moved to modify the Regulations for carrying out these Treaties, thereby introducing Spanish as a procedural language, placing it at the same level as French and English.
The SPTO begins offering Digital Access Service for WIPO priority documents
As of October 1, and within its policy of decreasing costs, the SPTO began participating in Digital Access Services for WIPO (World Intellectual Property Organization) priority documents.
I'm original, I don't buy fakes
Last July, the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office began to disseminate the awareness campaign against industrial piracy: “I'm original. I don't buy fakes,” developed within the framework of activities of the Intersectorial Commission for acting against activities that violate industrial property rights, and financed in equal parts by the SPTO and the Spanish National Trademark Defence Association (ANDEMA).
Electronic filing of Administrative Appeals
The new program for electronically presenting administrative appeals began functioning at the end of July of this year. The first appeal was filed in July and, rapidly progressing afterwards, electronic filing already represented 20% of all appeals presented in the month of September. Electronic filing facilitates procedures and represents a paper savings, as well as prevents users from having to move from one place to another.
IPscore: a tool for evaluating and managing patents
One of the initiatives set out in the SME Support Plan of the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office is to provide access to tools for managing a company's intangible assets.
