Preparatory meeting for the 22nd Latin American Summit
The preparatory meeting for the 22nd Latin American Summit of Heads of State and Prime Ministers is to be held in Cadiz on 16 and 17 July, commemorating the 200th anniversary of the signature of the 1812 Constitution. The Summit itself will also be held in Cádiz.
Present at the meeting, amongst others, will be the Directors General of the Latin American Industrial Property offices and the President of the European Patents Office (EPO), as well as representatives of the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), the Organisation for the Harmonisation of the Internal Market (OHIM), the Latin American General Secretariat and the Technical Secretariat of the Latin American Programme for Industrial Property.
Strategies for the future
Strategies for the future in the field of Industrial Property will be discussed at this meeting. In addition, a number of meetings will be held on the Latin American Programme for Industrial Property and Promotion of Development, as approved at the 21st Latin American Summit, which starts up this year, 2012.
The result of the meeting will be submitted to the Latin American Summit and it is expected that appropriate agreements and resolutions will be adopted.
The composition of these preparatory meetings and the subjects covered have led them to be seen over recent years as multilateral fora that are very appropriate for achieving consensus and detecting points of interest for all the Latin American Industrial Property offices. The meeting to be held in Cadiz is therefore of great importance.
