Annual Meeting of Industrial Property Regional Information Centres

The annual meeting of Industrial Property Regional Information Centres , organised by the Institute for Development of the Principality of Asturias (IDEPA), was held on 26 September in Llanera in Asturias.

Present were representatives from Andalusia, Asturias, the Canaries, Castilla y León, Galicia, Madrid, Murcia, Navarra, the Basque Country and La Rioja, and from the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO). During the event, they presented the activities of the different centres over the past year and discussed the problems they share.

SPTO provided information on forthcoming projects and stressed the very important work being done by the Centres to promote Industrial Property within the business fabric of their Communities, which should help make them more competitive.

What is a Regional Information Centre?
The Regional Centres are units reporting to the Autonomous Communities which, based on an agreement for collaboration with SPTO, help users to register patents, trademarks and designs, offer search services and create greater awareness about Industrial Property. The essential objective of the Regional Information Centre is to inform and train companies within their regions, enabling them to understand Industrial Property Rights, how they work and how to protect them.
