Marcathlon: ‘The Trade Mark Race’

On Saturday 26 April, World Intellectual Property Day, brands, associations and institutions in many different sectors will come together in the streets of Madrid for the first Marcathlon entitled ‘El Recorrido de las Marcas’.

Organised by the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (SPTO) and the National Association for the Defence of Trademarks (Asociación Nacional para la Defensa de la Marca – ANDEMA), the event will be free of charge. Its aim is to use games and competitions to create awareness among participants about the importance of innovation, brands and design for our economy: investment in R&D+I, payment of taxes, Social Security, employment, quality and safety guarantees. All those things that are not always obvious.

There will be two types of activity:

• Educational Gymkhana (educational obstacle course) with games for children, schools and families (ages 6 to 15), starting at 10.00.
• A race for adults (aged over 16) along 5.2 km, starting at 12.00.
