The new patent examiners will deal with applications in their respective technical fields during the various stages of the process

New senior SPTO officials

A ceremony was held on 10 November to present official Qualifications as Senior Civil Servants to the candidates who had successfully obtained positions in independent bodies (specialising in Industrial Property) of the Ministry of Industry, Energy and Tourism. These 5 members of the SPTO were appointed by the Resolution dated 15 October 2015 of the State Secretariat for Public Administrations and published in the Official State Bulletin of 2 November 2015.

The new patent examiners will deal with applications in their respective technical fields (mechanics and electricity) during the various stages of the process up to granting, as well as international applications that name the SPTO as the International Search and/or Preliminary Examination Office. They will also be entitled to receive training from and collaborate with prestigious international bodies such as the World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO), the European Patent Office (EPO) and the Office for Harmonisation in the Internal Market (OHIM).
