New SPTO Director General

Mr. José Antonio Gil Celedonio

From the SPTO we would like to welcome our new Director General, Mr. José Antonio Gil Celedonio, whose appointment was recently published on the Official State Gazette. Ms. María Reyes Maroto (Minister of Industry, Trade and Tourism) and Mr. Fernando Valdés (SPTO President as well as Undersecretary of Industry, Trade and Tourism) presided over the swearing ceremony, which took place on July 3rd at the Office headquarters. This occasion gave both the chance to visit the SPTO facilities and know first-hand some of its services and meet the staff.

The choice for such a relevant position as SPTO Director General went to a person with a rich academic and professional background; as John F. Kennedy said ‘Leadership and learning are indispensable to each other’. Gil Celedonio is a civil servant of the Higher Corps of the Civil Administrators of the State, he has also a Bachelor’s Degree in History (Contemporary speciality) from Complutense University of Madrid as long as a Master’s Degree in Diplomacy and International Relations from the Spanish Diplomatic School (MAEC). In addition, he has studied at the National Institute of Public Administration about EU Public Aids, Strategic Planning and Mentoring Skills. At present, he is studying Law Bachelor’s Degree along with a Master’s Degree in Polictics and Democracy both at the UNED.

The innovator transparent professional SPTO that we know at present is the result of a long productive history carved out by hard workers. For this reason, we would like to take the opportunity to thank his predecessors at the position for their laudable work, and we hope that this new period will be fruitful and satisfactory for all.
