To know first-hand all the advantages and services we offer

Once again, here are the monthly SPTO news; pay attention because this month comes quite full!

Firstly, the 8th edition of the Course on IP Administrative Management (Paralegals), organized by the SPTO and the Industrial Organization School (EOI, by Spanish acronym) as part of the activities of the ‘Cátedra Carlos Fernández-Nóvoa’ of Innovation and IP. The current edition began on June 25th, with an opening act attended by Ms. M.ª José de Concepción Sánchez (Manager of the Department of Patent and Technological Information), and will end in November. The course consists of 5 independent modules; thus, register for the full course will not be necessary being possible the enrolment by modules until the starting date of each. The next module will be held between July 16th and 18th, do not miss it! Secondly, the new informative leaflet published by the SPTO to expound the role of its highlighted service Patent Guard Examiner (EGP, by Spanish acronym), a free customer service part of the ‘second level’ information services since it deals with specialised questions about patents which cannot be solved by general information services. The SPTO uses this leaflet to explain users how this effective renowned service works.

Lastly, the new Technology Alert on Microalgae: Cultivation and uses that is part of the group of the Life Sciences and Food alerts, published by the SPTO in cooperation with Las Palmas de Gran Canaria University and the Spanish Bank of Algae. Microalgae are a group of photosynthetic unicellular organisms who live in a huge range of ecological niches. These organisms are particularly attractive from a biotechnological point of view, because they can be used in a wide variety of fields. Between them we can highlight energy production (essentially for biodiesel and bioethanol), food production (novel food), pharmacological, phytosanitary or cosmetic compounds production, bioremediation processes or biomass production. The aim of this alert is to offer updated information about patent applications for culturing techniques and resources as long as biotechnological uses of this kind of microalgae.
