The SPTO has tackled many organizational changes in recent times with the aim of spreading technological information in a professional, efficient and reliable way, as long as providing an increasingly agile and comfortable service to users. Certain obsolete price categories have been removed due to the lack of demand as a consequence of services and technologies evolution. While other prices have been reduced, to favour the demand of promotional and spreading products. There are also some unchanged prices, which is an effective reduction of them by not being applied the rise in the consumer price index of past years.

On the other side, the recent publication of the Law 6/2018 of July 3rd on the State General Budgets for 2018 brought a widespread rise by 1% in SPTO fees, which is also reflected on the new price catalogue. Regulations created or updated specifically by regulations enacted in 2017 are excluded of this general increase. Thus, Patent Law fees are not concerned by it.

At the same time, this Budgets unify the SPTO fees for those services with essential common features, no matter the IP title modality (right restoration application, appeal application or review application, record consult and study, record document copy, BOPI announcement of the interjection of judicial appeal, change application, opposition application and registration of the holder name changing).
