Grants for the promotion of patent and utility model applications

2018 Call

The SPTO constant zeal for providing Spanish companies with the required mechanisms to compete at international markets has led the Office to promote IP rights use again by means of grants. 2018 aids are addressed to those patents and utility models submitted both by national and international processes.

The aim of these grants is double, on the one hand to stimulate the international protection of technology through patents or utility models and improve the competitiveness of those entities of the private sector present at foreign markets, and on the other hand, to promote the protection of the Spanish inventions made by SMEs and individuals by means of patents and utility models.

On this occasion the types of aids convened are:

• Grants for the extension of a patent or utility model application with Spanish priority, submitted at third countries national offices or patent regional offices, in the context of national or regional patent or utility model granting processes. Among the concepts that can be funded, the 2018 call includes: application, search report, examining and granting processes, EPO annual fees and European patent validation.
• Grants for the activities carried out inside a PCT international process (application, international search or preliminary examination).
• Grants for Spanish patent and utility model applications (application and/or State of the Art Search report processes).

Applications should have been formalized and submitted telematically at the SPTO electronic office between May 20th and 19th 2018.
